When we were invited to be part of the Women’s Rugby World Cup Final event at the Allianz Stadium in Twickenham this weekend, we couldn’t say no. Armed with DJ decks and twelve hours of disco dance tracks by female hitmakers, we filled the floor in the Rose Garden hospitality suite where hundreds of ticketholders were ready to watch and celebrate two unforgettable games.
Alongside everything else our team can do, DJing is just another skill in our wheelhouse. We use it to help our clients deliver outstanding events with curated playlists that soundtrack their brand and provide memorable talking points that keep their event top of mind.
Atmosphere is everything. And while we gave this weekend’s gig our absolute all, it could not rival the electricity in the stadium as the matches played below us.
Sport is changing and women’s sport even more so. Some may argue that in the UK, women’s sport is having its moment.
- The Lionesses’ win in the Euros.
- Sarina Wiegman and Hannah Hampton winning the Ballon d’Or.
- Wins at the Athletics Championships in Tokyo from Georgia Hunter Bell, Keeley Hodgkinson and Katarina Johnson-Thompson.
- And now the Rugby World Cup win over Canada.
What’s actually happening is that women’s sport is becoming a movement.
‘Everyone watches women’s sport’ has become a bit of a mantra, signalling unity within the community and even drawing comparison to male sport. It’s why it was so important to us that we were part of the Women’s Rugby World Cup. We need more spaces where people come together for a common goal or celebration. It’s important for us to champion the places where there is a need. To highlight how things could be more equal. And, when the win comes in, to be at the right place at the right time, loading up the decks for an out-of-this-world party.
We’re so proud to have been in the thick of women’s sport this summer and we can’t wait to see how it will continue to grow as an industry, through investment, sponsorship and visibility.
